The Argentine striker is under contract at the Etihad until summer 2021 and although he’s always wanted to head back to his first club Independiente, he could be tempted to stay beyond the end of the his current deal.

Aguero – whose 254 goals make him City’s all-time top scorer – is in fourth place in the overall Premier League rankins with 180, and he is up for the challenge.

He said:

“I want to continue growing even more and this is my opportunity.

“But for now, I’m not thinking about what to do. With all that is going on, the clubs are having problems.”

However, the 31-year-old star is still keen to win more honours, including the PFA Player of the Year and the elusive Ballon D’Or, and be puts the latter down to City’s lack of European success.

As quoted by SunSport, he added:

“Every player wants to win the Ballon D’Or but the Champions League has a lot to do with it.

“My best year, last year, we won four titles but we had no luck in that one. I was not nominated even in the top ten because you need more to get in there.

“But I think I’m there — not because I say so but because of the years I’ve had at City and the numbers.”
