Rangers headed to McDiarmid Park off the back of Thursday’s impressive triumph over Feyenoord in the Europa League and it looked like that result had taken a lot out of the players, as they were below par during a first half that ended 0-0.
However, a different Rangers returned for the second period with goals from Alfredo Morelos, Connor Goldson and a Jermain Defoe brace helping them to what, in the end, was a routine victory.
Gerrard was certainly pleased with the response he got from his players during the second 45 minutes and he believes they could have won by an even greater margin.
The former Liverpool star told reporters:
“I said to the players at half-time that I thought we had more to give,”
“I asked them for more and I certainly got it. The second-half performance was on a different level to the first.
“We looked hungry, full of running and full of energy and could have scored a few more goals.”
