Burton youngster Hawkins suffers ligament injury
Burton goalkeeper Callum Hawkins has been ruled out until at least March after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in training.
The 19-year-old, who is yet to make a senior appearance for the club, is the second Brewers player to suffer an ACL injury of late, with midfielder Ben Fox having done so last month.
Boss Nigel Clough said on Burton’s official website:
‘Callum inadvertently got injured on Monday morning in training and has done the same as Ben Fox.
‘Doing his ACL is a massive blow for both him and us. It was innocuous again, just playing a ball. He got his knee stuck in the grass and will be out for seven months.
‘We have 20 players and have two now out with long-term injuries.
For two young players as well it’s such bad luck for them.’
