Barca rule out swoop for Neymar
Barcelona have withdrawn their interest in re-signing Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar and say a deal will not be happening at this time.
Neymar is keen to leave PSG and the Parisians would also be happy to cash in if a club came in and matched their valuation.
Barca looked to be the Brazilian’s best hope of getting a move away but that now looks unlikely.
Jordi Cardoner, the vice president of the La Liga champions, says they are interested, but the deal is complicated and at this stage, unlikely to happen any time soon.
‘As of today, there’s no Neymar case, as the president said, and it’s complicated,’ he told TV3. ‘We are passive actors. We know he’s not happy in Paris and it’s a situation that needs to be resolved in Paris. ‘We haven’t spoken to them. There is a lot of respect between the clubs and if there is a Neymar case one day, we’ll talk. Today, at this time, it’s ruled out.’
All in all it means that Neymar looks sure to stay in Paris for now.
