Beale signs new Wallabies deal

5 years ago admin

Utility back Kurtley Beale has signed new contracts with Rugby Australia and New South Wales Waratahs until the end of the 2020 season.

There is set to be a changing of the guard for Australia after this year’s World Cup, with Will Genia, Samu Kerevi, Bernard Foley and others planning to move abroad after the tournament.

However, Beale has opted against joining that exodus and is excited to remain part of the Australia set-up.

‘I know there’s a new generation of players coming through and I feel like I can put myself in positions to be able to achieve some special moments,’ Beale said. ‘With the vision of how were playing the game at the moment, the new styles, it’s really exciting and it’s just great to be a part of it.’

The 30-year-old has won 83 caps for the Wallabies since making his debut in 2009 and is in line to feature at his third World Cup this year. It is not just his international future that is keeping Beale interested, however, as he also feels there is still plenty to achieve with the Waratahs in Super Rugby. ‘

Obviously, World Cup years bring about change and we’re in an exciting period here at the Waratahs, with some exciting young players and a new coach to be appointed,’ Beale added. ‘To be able to play a part in that journey is exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in 2020.’
